Tourism personnel to join DOT system, standards orientation

PERSONNEL of the Provincial Tourism Division and tourism officers of local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental are attending a regional level information drive in Iloilo City on Wednesday, August 30.

Dubbed “Enhancing Tourism Quality through Progressive Accreditation System and Asean Tourism Standards," the activity includes series of orientation-seminars.

It is spearheaded by the Department of Tourism-Office of Tourism Standards and Regulations (DOT-OTSR) in cooperation with DO-Western Visayas.

Cristine Mansinares, provincial supervising tourism operations officer, said the activity is in line with the ongoing Asean economic integration and the implementation of the Progressive Accreditation System.

Mansinares said it is aimed at gaining the cooperation and support of the concerned industry stakeholders and tourism-related associations for the implementation of both Asean and national tourism standards.

Aside from tourism personnel, representatives from the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) of every city and municipality in the province will participate in the activity.

"The province's participation is vital to the development of local tourism sector as our personnel will gain knowledge on current industry trends and how to address pressing challenges," Mansinares added.
