Chinese national nabbed for P3.5-M shabu

ANTI-narcotics agents have arrested a Chinese national for allegedly selling methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a poseur-buyer in a shopping mall in Cavite, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Wednesday.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Jessie Chua, a 41-year-old businessman from Veraville Town Homes, Las Piñas City.

The suspect was nabbed on Monday afternoon during an entrapment operation inside District Mall, Imus City, Cavite.

Seized from him was one kilogram of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu placed inside a large ziplock plastic bag, with an estimated street value of P3.5 million.

Authorities have been monitoring Chua’s alleged illegal drug activity since February.

Chua will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He is currently detained at PDEA Regional Office 3 Jail Facility in Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. (SDR/Sunnex)
