THE Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) welcomed the initiative of the Davao Tourism Association (Data) to hold Davao Tourism Conference (TCON) next month in Davao City.
City tourism head Generose Tecson said there is really a need to plan with the tourism stakeholders in Davao City and in the region, considering the upcoming activities.
“I am very happy that we had a pre-conference (before the big event, the TCON) because this is what we truly need. We need to plan together for the Davao tourism and we all need to be responsible for tourism growth,” Tecson said.
She also said the staging of the TCON, dubbed as: “Creating the Future of Davao Tourism,” is the perfect time with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) that will be funding its Tourism Master Plan for private and public sectors.
TCON will be the first conference for tourism stakeholders in the city.
“Gusto natin makuha talaga yung peak ng gusto natin gawin for Davao tourism, but it is hard to do that without the participation of the rest. We have to know our place in the industry para muuswag ang tourism sa siyudad,” she said.
The TCON aims to unite tourism stakeholders toward a solid marketing framework for Davao City as the main tourism hub and also the gateway to the entire Davao Region under its "Sulong Davao Turismo" campaign.
Data president Gatchi Gatchalian, earlier, said Sulong Davao Turismo is a proactive campaign for tourism stakeholders to be reminded of what they want to happen for Davao tourism and to work as one.
