Rewards for Joy Tabal, assistance for Ormoc survivors

THE Cebu City Council and the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) separately approved resolutions granting P100,000 as a reward for Mary Joy Tabal, for bringing home a gold medal from the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The City Council commended Tabal and other SEA Games medalists like James delos Santos, who won bronze in the men’s individual kata event, and Rheyjey Orouste along with other members of the sepak takraw team, who won the silver medal.

The City’s P100,000 cash incentive for Tabal will be charged to Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s discretionary funds. The council approved yesterday the resolution to commend Tabal, sponsored by Councilors Raymond Garcia, Eugenio Gabuya and Jerry Guardo.

At the Capitol, the PB approved a resolution by PB Members Miguel Antonio Magpale and Earl Tidy Oyas, granting P100,000 to Tabal.

Another resolution was also passed, donating P1 million to the survivors of the 6.5-magnitude earthquake in Ormoc City last July. (RVC, EOB)
