Golf in 29th SEA Games

HI GOLFER! If you are wondering why Rancho Palos Verdes was closed last Saturday, it's because the Indonesian Consulate had a golf tournament. The results, posted below. But, the course was open last Monday, right? Goodie.

And on Thursday, August 31, Rancho Palos Verdes was closed again from 5 a.m. up to 1 p.m. because—BPI had a tournament called The 4th BPI Cup Golf Tournament. Will they be open this coming Monday? Most likely not. Maawa naman kayo sa mga staff. They need to rest too.

In a few months, Davao City Golf Club will be closed, for good. If your reaction is "Huh!?" "Why!?" OMG, parang hindi ka golfer. Huli ka na sa chismis. Why? Progress in the city.

Speaking of progress, Lanang Golf Club was closed because of? You got it —Progress.

With Lanang Golf now a premier mall, and Davao City Golf a future business park of some sort, and South Pacific not being able to accommodate a major tournament yet, this leaves us with just two fully functional and fully operational golf courses — Rancho Palos Verdes Golf & Country Club and Apo Golf & Country Club.

So, count your blessings. A day or two of not being able to play golf isn’t such a sacrifice. Don’t make the club officers and directors angry. They might increase the monthly dues and/or green fees. I hope not. Smile! Advance Merry Christmas!

By the way, because Davao City Golf is closing, no one seems to be interested in selling Apo Golf shares. Yehey. The value of my Apo Golf share is finally increasing. As of now, it is very much undervalued in my opinion.

Peace to all. Advance Happy Holidays! It is a "ber" month already. Happy Golfing!

Results of the golf competition in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia:

Men's team - Singapore (gold), Thailand (silver), Indonesia (bronze), women's team - Thailand (gold), Indonesia (silver), Malaysia (bronze), individual men's - Kosuke Hamamoto of Thailand (gold), Marc Ong of Singapore (silver), and Kammalas N. of Thailand (bronze), women's individual - Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand (gold), Thitapa P. of Thailand (silver).

And, our very own Lois Kaye Go from the Philippines won the bronze. Congratulations! She made us very proud. Yehey! We won a bronze medal!

Other results of Filipino golfers: Women’s - Harmie Nicole Constantino finished sixth, Junia Louis Gabasa 15th, men’s - Rupert Zaragosa ninth, Luigi Paolo Wong 12th, Carl Jano Corpus finished 14th, Jolo Timothy Magca 24th.

Break. By the way, if you are wondering why Tony Lascuña, Miguel Tabuena, Jay Bayron, Elmer Salvador, Angelo Que, and the other great players are not in the competition, it is because they are professional golfers already. The Southeast Asian games only accept golfers with amateur status. Okay?

Moving on...
