PDEA-Central Visayas receives drug detector kits from US

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Visayas received P4.5 million worth of state-of-the-art drug detector kits from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

PDEA-Central Visayas Director Yogi Ruiz said that the Tru-Narch drug detector kits will be utilized randomly in all ports of the region.

"These sensors are very handy and powerful. These are the latest gadgets that can detect all types of drugs and can be used for 24 hours," Ruiz said.

Ruiz said that in the Philippines, only the PDEA-Central Visayas and another unit possess the Tru-Narch drug detector kits.

"The detectors work better than K9 units because canines are fallible, they get tired depending on the weather or during travel," Ruiz said. (SunStar Cebu)
