'Pusher' killed in Moalboal shootout; wife in custody

A SUSPECTED pusher died while his wife was caught in a drug bust in Sitio Lutaw, Barangay Tuble, Moalboal town, Cebu, around 5:35 a.m. Thursday, August 31.

Moalboal Police Chief Jose Rovic Villarin identified the slain suspect as Bernard Gunther Buaya Abecia, who had been listed as a high value target.

Abecia's wife, Connie, was detained.

The suspects yielded nine packs of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," to the Municipal Drug Enforcement Team and Provincial Public Safety Company.

The contraband weighed 3.2 grams worth P37,760, a Dangerous Drugs Board value.

Abecia's .45 pistol, six bullets and an empty shell were recovered.

During the operation, the suspects were in their house. The couple's children stayed with their grandparents.

Abecia allegedly resisted arrest and started shooting at the operatives, who retaliated and hit him in different parts of his body.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

Connie will face complaints for violating Republic 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which prohibits the sale and possession of shabu. (KAL)
