In the midst of nature’s eye in Guimaras

LIVING in a busy city, we often want to seek refuge in a place where we can find serenity and tranquility. We head to a nearby beach or a remote area a few minutes from the city. But with advanced technology occupying a huge space in our society, finding the perfect place that can take us away from the maddening metropolis can be a bit of a challenge.

Good thing there’s Nature’s Eye Resort, located in Guimaras Island in Western Visayas, where you can be disconnected online but be connected with Mother Nature.

Getting there is an adventure as it takes about an hour ride from the Jordan Wharf to Barangay Tando and then a short boat ride to get to the resort, if it is high tide, or a hike through a mini-forest towards its entrance, if it is low tide.

With its seclusion, only a handful has found this piece of paradise in Guimaras, ensuring privacy and solitude. It is owned by Ms. Rowena Amancio, who has lived in various countries, and makes Nature’s Eye a haven of peacefulness that she wants others to experience.

Being one with nature

An eco-friendly resort, you’ll never even know it’s there because it is covered by trees. Birds fly freely over the place and you can hear them chirp in the morning. Fireflies glow with their lights during the night.

The scent of grass fills the whiff of the breeze. Nature’s Eye Resort is perched on a cliff, providing a breathtaking view of the sea and the islets. It faces the Taklong Island National Marine Reserve at the horizon, which is a great area for island-hopping. The resort has interesting cottages, made of different designs and materials, and most of them provide you with an opportunity to bath in the open (or semi-open space).

Romantic getaway

If you want to enjoy some private, romantic time with your partner, you’ll find it here in Nature’s Eye Resort. It’s where you can spend your honeymoon or anniversary in this secluded place, and have a great time bonding together. Couples can watch the sunset with the ocean view and allow the sound of the waves to serenade them.

The dining area provides a beautiful landscape overlooking the bay that will whet your appetite for some relaxed conversations. It’s an ideal venue to up the ante and bring additional spark into that romance.

A date with the self

Sometimes you just want to give more time for yourself and, thankfully, you can get the solitude you’ve been yearning for so long at this part of Guimaras. Some “me” time can free your mind from the stress of the daily grind. You need to listen to your body and pamper it with less hectic activities and more rest periods.

Even when you come here alone, you cannot be totally lonely because there’s Biscuit, the resort owner’s fluffy pet dog that can charm you during your stay. In Nature’s Eye, you can enhance your creative side and let it run wild while you take inspiration from the beauty of nature.

As you make Nature’s Eye your home in the island, you can also see the other interesting attractions within the area – mango plantations, wind mills, heritage sites, mangrove forests, islets, and so much more. There’s more to the sweet bite of mangoes that Guimaras can offer, like the wonderful natural resources within its bosom.

Guimaras is just across the sea from Negros, but we often do not know the hidden gems near us. It only goes to show that there are so much more to explore in our region, in our country, and in the world. Take it one place at a time, and maybe you can find your spot – or spots – on this earth and under the sun.
