No worries during Ghost Month

KNOWN psychic and feng shui expert Francis Gaw advised entrepreneurs to be cautious and remain prayerful during this “Ghost Month” period.

In the Chinese lunar calendar, this year’s “Ghost Month” falls on Aug. 22 to Sept. 19.

Chinese tradition has it that during this month, ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm.

According to Gaw, it is during this time that Chinese would offer prayers and food for the gods, food for their deceased ancestors and food for the friendly ghost.

“During ghost month, all believers do not want to buy houses, cars, sign contracts, or venture into any business during this period,” said the feng shui practitioner.

“For others, they would avoid going out at night or traveling in far away places to avoid accidents or misfortunes,” he added.

But Gaw believes there is nothing to lose during this period if people would just be careful and be prayerful always.

“As always, do good deeds and surely good things will come.”

Melanie Ng, president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said it is business as usual for the local community.

“Just like every day, we pray and hope for good health, safety of the family and it’s business as usual,” said Ng. (KOC)
