Apalit college students get financial assistance

APALIT -- The local government recently distributed financial assistance to indigent college students from various universities here.

The program is part of Mayor Peter Nucom scholarship program which aims to assist Apaliteño youth who wanted to pursue tertiary education.

During the distribution, Nucom personally handed out P2,500 cash each to 100 college students who were chosen by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development as beneficiaries.

Nucom said the financial assistance is the local government’s way of encouraging the Apaliteño youth not to be disheartened by financial incapability.

“Huwag ninyong tignan bilang hadlang ang kahirapan para matapos kayo sa pag-aaral. Gawin ninyo itong inspirasyon para mas pagbutihin pa at makatulong kayo sa pamilya ninyo,” he said, adding that there are many companies that offers part-time jobs for working students.

He added that the local government is willing to provide subsidy for their education provided that they submit the proper requirements.

Also present to witness the pay-out are Vice Mayor Augusto Manlapaz, Councilors Elias Mendoza, Kenneth Nunag and Edmon Simon, and MSWDO personnel.
