THE Zamboanga City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) office will re-launch on Monday, September 4, its renewed information campaign on solid waste management, as it aims for the full and strict implementation of the law.

The re-launching program will coincide with the Monday flag raising ceremony of City Government employees in City Hall and will be spearheaded by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, Environment Management Bureau Regional Director Reynaldo Callanta, OCENR head Rey Gonzales and the members of the Solid Waste Management Board.

The intensified information drive for Ordinance 2016-176, otherwise known as the Integrated Solid Waste Management System of Zamboanga, will include the distribution of information education and communication materials, barangay information caravan, media guesting, orientations in schools and in government and non-government agencies and other activities.

The ordinance mandates segregation of solid waste in residential, institutional, agricultural, and commercial establishments, deputation of barangay and law enforcers for the issuance of citation tickets for violations, and the imposition of a garbage fee for business establishments and residential units.
