MOVIE. I’m glad that my good friend film director Carlo J. Caparas is now back in the movie industry with “Kamandag ng Droga” that’s set for nationwide screening late this year. I gathered from his daughter Peach that the flick is an accurate depiction of how the use of prohibited drugs can destroy society. Obviously, this film is in support of the government’s anti-drug drive.
STARS. “Kamandag ng Droga” is a star-studded flick. Sarah Lahbati, Christopher de Leon, Lorna Tolentino, Niño Muhlach, Ronnie Lazaro, CJ Caparas, Assunta de Rossi, Bobby Andrews, Meg Imperial and Mark Neumann are just some of the stars in this movie. Direk Carlo, two thumbs up for you!
MEMBER. Who doesn’t know Erlinda Dajao-Sayson, one of Cebu’s veteran singers? She is now a member of Sugboanong Musikero, a club of local bands, singers, comic duos and other performers. After years of retiring from the entertainment scene, she’s back to share her God-given talent with the public. Also, the singing priest Fr. Jonas Mejares of the Order of St. Augustine has accepted the club’s invitation for him to serve as its spiritual director. His own birthday concert is slated in October.
EXCITING. The Sugboanong Musikero concert “Pasiawit: Paskohanong Dalit” on Dec. 2 at SM Seaside is going to be a very exciting event. It will be an afternoon of standup comedy and songs to be rendered by the club’s members themselves. The show is open to the public. A million thanks to Alvin Chiong of Salonga Sounds and Lights for his big help. (For comments, text 0932-277-8771)
