Hacienda watchman shot dead

AN HACIENDA watchman was shot to death by his unidentified driver-companion along the national highway of Barangay Marina in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental Saturday morning.

Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, town police chief, identified the fatality as Rolando Hemoso, 56, of Barangay Guintubhan, Isabela town, who worked in a sugarcane farm in Talisay City.

Grande said Hemoso disembarked from a private vehicle driven by an unidentified man. The latter followed him and shot him in the head.

Police recovered from the scene a fired bullet of a .45 caliber pistol.

Grande said the victim attended a relative’s burial where he probably met the suspect.

Grande refused to divulge further details about the incident while the investigation is ongoing.

He said they already have a person of interest, based on the statement of the witness.

In another development, a laborer died while a barangay official was injured after their motorcycles figured in an accident along the national road of Sitio Camulayan, Barangay Mambaroto in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Saturday night.

Police identified the fatality as Reneboy Taglocop, 45, of Barangay Maricalum.

Wounded was Albert Abanilla, 45, a village councilman of Barangay 3.

Police records showed that Abanilla was traveling from Barangay Mambaroto when he was sideswiped by a motorcycle driven by Taglocop, who was on his way to Barangay Maricalum.

Taglocop took the lane of Abanilla that caused both motorcycles to fall on their sides.

Both were brought to a hospital, where Taglocop was declared dead. (GYM)
