Robbery, homicide raps filed vs man

CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor's Office against a man for allegedly robbing and killing another person inside a car in Barangay Binugao in Toril, Davao City.

Facing charges for robbery and homicide is one Alejandro Matimbol. He was charged for robbing Julius Arevalo and shooting him to death last October 10, 2014.

Prosecutor Joseph Mamburam, in a resolution dated May 21, found probable cause to charge Matimbol based on the complaint filed by Arevalo's wife, Teresita.

In her affidavit, Teresita said that she was about to open the gate for her husband when she saw two male persons approached her husband's car. One of the suspects then shot the victim and stole his bag containing P300,000.

The suspects then boarded a motorcycle and left the area.

Matimbol was identified by Arevalo's wife and his niece, Bernadeth Roncales Clamocha, who was at the backseat of the car when the incident happened, through the picture presented to them by Toril Police last October 20, 2014.

One Allen Disierdo was also pointed as a suspect in the incident through the affidavit of Andrea Lao, saying that she saw Disierdo talking to two male persons prior to the incident.

She alleged that an hour later, she heard gunshots and noticed that Disierdo sped off together with other two males.

But Disierdo was dismissed for insufficiency of evidence, proving that he was with Matimbol.

The case is currently at the Regional Trial Court's Office of the Clerk of Court and is set to be raffled off to an RTC Branch Thursday, June 25. (KGL)
