ANGELES CITY -- Councilor Edgardo Pamintuan, Jr. was named as one of the recipients of the 2017 Most Outstanding Local Legislator Award (Olla) by the esteemed award-giving body, Superbrands Marketing International Incorporated (SMI)-Philippines recently.

Pamintuan, Jr. received the award during a fitting conferment ceremony held at the Alphaland Makati Place in Makati City along with other 16 awardees (vice governors, board members, vice mayors and councilors) from all over the Philippines.

The councilor was recognized for his noteworthy role in crafting ordinances that uplift the city’s programs on social welfare and development, environment, public peace and safety, tourism promotion, and especially youth and education which he champions.

“This prestigious Outstanding Local Legislator Award is an upright manifestation that the City of Angeles produces not just an Outstanding Local Chief Executive but also commendable subordinates in the legislative branch of government,” said Pamintuan, Jr.

SMI-Philippines cited Pamintuan’s significant role in the creation of the City College of Angeles which is the city’s first and only government-run tertiary educational institution created through Ordinance No. 294, series of 2011 of which he authored.

The legacy project has produced close to a thousand graduates coming from indigent families in the city, who are now professionals in their respective fields.

Pamintuan was also instrumental in crafting ordinances that address school congestion, regulation of the use of plastic bag and styrofoam, segregation at source, water septage management, children welfare, and the creation of the Angeles City Heritage District.

SMI Philippines is the world’s largest arbiter of branding that pays tribute to the strongest and most valuable brands in the world through its publications and national marketing programs.

Through Olla, the global organization also recognizes the exceptional performance and contributions of government officials and public servants towards building a better nation.

Awardees from Central Luzon also include Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando of Bulacan, Board Member Ma. Lourdes Posadas of Bulacan, and Councilor Emmanuel Balicanta of Baliuag, Bulacan.
