THE 3rd Davao Monthly Chess Challenge will get underway on July 4 at the NCCC Mall Davao Food Cove Function Hall.

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-sanctioned event will feature the division A for boys and girls 18 years-old and below, division B for boys and girls 14 years old and below and division C for boys and girls 10 years old and below.

The Swiss Sytem format tournament, according to chief arbiter Alfred Moulic, aims to develop players' skills and at the same time scout for promising talents who could best represent the city in competitions.

The top three placers in each division will receive medals, certificates, and merchandises while they will also qualify for the grand finals slated in January 2016. Chess sets are also for grabs during the raffle draw.

The tournament is backed by international arbiter James Infiesto and Gogo Alba.
