THE Davao Tourism Association (Data) plans to develop a unified vision for all tourism stakeholders in the city.
Speaking in Kapehan sa Dabaw media forum at The Annex of SM City Davao on Monday, September 4, Data president Gatchi Gatchalian said there is a need to create one vision for all tourism stakeholders as each has different objectives and means in promoting the city.
"We have to be guided with just one direction because we want to rebuild the image of Davao City in to one whole concept so it is important to discuss it together with all the concerned private tourism establishments and organizations," Gatchalian said, adding that it's all set for the staging of the 1st Davao Tourism Conference (TCON) on September 22 at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites.
Gatchalian said stakeholders will look into the strengths and weaknesses of the tourism sector to identify and build concrete programs in partnership with the local government unit and other related organizations to push through Data's Sulong Davao Turismo program.
"We have to prepare the tourism sector in the city for eventualities just like the recent martial law declaration. With circumstances like that, we have to be responsive in immediately crafting plans to sustain the sector," he said.
The final tourism vision, Gatchalian said, will be announced after the discussion during the TCON event.
