Consumers Watch to tackle Baciwa bulk water project

THE Bacolod Water Consumers Watch Inc. (BWCWI) will hold a meeting with village officials in Bacolod City on Thursday, September 7, to discuss the status of the bulk water supply contract of Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).

The meeting will be held at the Bacolod Government Center session hall at 9 a.m.

Councilor Wilson Gamboa, chairman of BWCWI, said Monday they invited Baciwa general manager Juliana Carbon, and Ryan Yapkianwee, chief operating officer of Bacolod Bulk Water Supply Inc.

BWCWI will also discuss the water shortage in Bacolod as well as the operations of water refilling stations.

Gamboa said the Bacolod Water Watch, as a consumer “watchdog,” will continue to seek and ensure water supply sufficiency and security for Bacolod City.

“We will ensure consumer protection against water rate increases, unreasonable fees, and impositions of excessive, exorbitant charges and imposition of arbitrary and capricious policies that would violate consumer rights," he said.

Also invited were various water consumer stakeholders and concerned non-government organizations.
