Farmer dead, wife injured in gun attack

A FARMER was killed, while his wife was wounded, in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported on Tuesday, September 5.

The Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office identified the victims as Jayme Buhayan, 47, and his wife, Lydia, 47.

The police reported that the incident happened around 3 p.m., Monday, September 4, at Purok Irene in the village of Poblacion, Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorcycle traversing the Poblacion village when they were shot by one of two men riding in tandem on another motorcycle that blocked their path.

Buhayan suffered multiple gunshot wounds that led to his immediate death while his wife was hospitalized.

Recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Investigation continues in a bid to unmask the identities of the perpetrators of the incident. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
