Usep gets 100% passing in Mining Engineering board exam

THE University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) recently produced 28 new Mining Engineers in this year’s Mining Engineering Licensure Examination.

Last August 14, the Philippine Regulatory Commission released the results, showing 100 percent passing percentage of Usep where one of its mining engineering graduates placed 7th in the said board examination.

Engineer Dominik Johannes Schoenhuber, German born Filipino citizen, ranked seventh with an 88.45 percent rating.

Other new Usep Mining Engineers are Engr. Al Nasser Adaptar, Engr. John Darwin Amag, Engr. Rose Marie Araysa, Engr. Jon Carlow Barroso, Engr. Krystel Boston, Engr. John Caballero, Engr. Dexter Cabeza, Engr. Kier Castillanes, Engr. Leslie Mari Chee, Engr. Jenice Cruz, Engr. Christian Rome Engbino, Engr. Jenny Rose Gabuya, Engr. Janenne Galaura, Engr. Charmaine Llacuna, Engr. Japhet Manuel, Engr. Janice Nicole Merosa, Engr. John Esor Francess Mondoyo, Engr. Jarwin David Obeja, Engr. Maurielle John Ocampo, Engr. Crisvi Luz Osera, Engr. Maria Raniela Orteza, Engr. Agnes Padinas, Engr. Jer Aian Pascual, Engr. Dan Arthur Rodriguez, Engr. Ernest Rase Sacedor, Engr. Mary Ann Solamo, and Engr. Ronald Villanueva.

They went home victoriously after the three-day examination in Manila and Cebu.

“The Usep College of Engineering is very proud of this feat as it continuously produces quality graduates to perform the tasks and requirements of upholding the tenets of responsible mineral development in the country," said Engr. Ernani Villasencio, chair of Usep Mining Engineering Department.

The Mining Engineering Department of Usep has produced successful professionals since its establishment.

It has a passing percentage of 76.19 percent in 2013, 73.33 percent in 2014, 83.33 percent in 2015, 88.24 percent in 2016, and for this year, it got 100 percent with a national passing rate of 88.64 percent.

“We did not pray for our own success. We prayed for us all to pass and go home as Engineers,” said Engr. Caballero during the Testimonial Ceremony on August 24, 2017.

The new mining engineers had their two-month long review at Usep together with 10 examinees from Bicol University under the supervision of the Mining Engineering Department. (PR)
