Mabalacat mayor vows to work on city’s traffic woes

MABALACAT City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has vowed to also work on the city’s problem on traffic congestion.

Garbo said that his administration has crafted immediate and long term measures to solve the city’s traffic problem.

Garbo said reducing traffic congestion is one of the priority programs of the City Government.

The mayor cited the increase in the volume of motorists as an effect of urbanization and infrastructure projects which will implemented around the city including the expansion Clark International Airport, the Clark-Subic railway, New Clark City, and others.

City Administrator Rosano Paquia said the City Government recently procured the first batch of traffic barriers amounting to more than P1- million to replace the old road separators which have become traffic hazards.

The local government through its City Planning and Development Office recently initiated a meeting with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and the University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies Foundation Incorporated.

Topics discussed during the meeting were the current traffic condition of the city and possible improvements.

The meeting was attended by City Engineer Rodrigo De Leon, Mabalacat City Traffic Enforcement Group Chief Rolando Santos, Lawyer Ramsey Ocampo of CDC, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office chief Jeffrey Santos, Executive Assistant Fiel Sacay, Police Inspector Renz Principe and others.
