Suspect getting tips from cops?

FOR 15 days, police searched for Jessie Largo, main suspect in the killing of the son of a government employee in Talisay City, but failed.

An official believed that someone within their ranks may have continuously tipped off Largo about the ongoing manhunt.

Senior Insp. Irvin Bellen, team leader of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 7, said they received an intelligence report that Largo has friends in the police force.

“That is why when we do operations against him (Largo), it’s really closed because we couldn’t discount the possibility that he knows some police officers,” said Bellen.

The officer said Largo is still in Cebu Province.

Largo, who is now a Most Wanted Person in Cebu, allegedly killed 22-year-old John Ronli Calizar last Aug 26.

Last Saturday, the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) and the RSOG had a shootout with Largo’s suspected cohorts who were believed to be members of a gun-for-hire group.

Cousins Josua Taberna, 27, and Daryl Taberna, 28, were rushed to a public hospital after they allegedly engaged police officers to a gunfight in Sitio Craser Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City.

Daryl, however, died in the hospital.

“We received reports that they’re Largo’s cohorts during their robberies, gun-for-hire operations, and deaths under investigation not only in Talisay but in the whole region,” Bellen said. (JOB)
