Farmer drowns after trying to save carabao

A 52-YEAR-OLD farmer died as he tried to save his carabao from drowning in a river swelled by flood in Pinamungajan town, Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Ricardo Villarin. His carabao did not survive.

Before he drowned, Villarin leashed his three carabaos near the river and went home on Saturday, September 9.

He came back to the river with his wife when the rain fell.

He succeeded in rescuing his two carabaos.

He failed to unleash the third carabao as the downpour caused the river to swell fast, carrying away Villarin and his carabao in the strong current.

Villarin's body was found in Barangay Anopog at 6 a.m. Sunday, September 10. (KAL)
