THE Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday started its investigation into the qualified trafficking complaints filed against Taytay, Rizal priest Monsignor Arnel Lagarejos.
Lagarejos was alleged of repeatedly soliciting the sexual services of a 13-year-old, alias "Ana".
The priest failed to attend Monday's preliminary hearing conducted by Assistant State Prosecutor Karla Cabel. The priest, however, was represented by his lawyer.
The closed door probe was also attended by representatives from the Public Attorney's Office, counsel of the complainant Ana, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Lagarejos and the four other respondents, including the one that pimped the victim, were directed to submit their respective counter affidavits in the next hearing on September 22.
Lagarejos, formerly parish priest of the St. John the Baptist Parish in Taytay, was stripped of his position following his arrest in an entrapment operation in a motel in Marikina City last July.
The alleged rape try has also led to his removal as president of Cainta Catholic College. (SunStar Philippines)
