Zamboanga City lines up activities for World Rabies Day

THE Office of the City Veterinarian (OCVet) has lined up several activities aimed at promoting animal welfare as well as responsible pet ownership in Zamboanga City.

Dr. Mario Arriola said they teamed up with Ateneo de Zamboanga University for the “Bring Your Dogs to Campus,” a whole day activity to be held within the university’s campus on September 25.

The activity is in line with the observance of the World Rabies Day and the World Animal Welfare Day.

Dog owners and their pets are encouraged to join the “Walk in the Park” that will commence at the St. Francis House Rotunda to the Zamboanga City Water District Rotunda in Pasonanca.

Arriola said walking event will be followed by a free spay and neuter program for dogs and cats.

He said the event is in partnership with the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association–Western Mindanao Chapter.

Only the first 28 pet-and-owner pairs will be accommodated, he added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
