Run for Peace slated on Sept. 21

A RUN for Peace, organized by various non-government organizations, government agencies and volunteer organizations, is all set on September 21 to raise funds for the victims of the Marawi crisis.

Project coordinator Leo Luay, during Kapehan sa Dabaw media forum at The Annex of SM City Davao on Monday, September 11, said the six-kilometer event expects 1,000 participants.

Luay said the fun run is aligned with the celebration of the International Day of Peace this month with the theme "Together for Peace" which reminds the public that attaining peace is through unity.

"We NGOs and government agencies have to work in full efforts to help sustain the needs of these victims because we are just one Filipinos in this country," he said.

All of the proceeds, Luay said, will be used to purchase basic necessities such as food, clothing, water, and toiletries to thousands of evacuees inside various evacuation centers outside Marawi City.

Registration fee is P100.

The run will be held in an out-and-back course from Regina Compound Complex along Claro M. Recto Street with turning point at Abreeza Ayala Mall, Jose P. Laurel Avenue.
