THE Davao City Government is set to launch different local and international roadshows in October to further promote Davao in places where they push for direct flights.

As the city is currently pushing for direct flights to and from Davao, city council chair for tourism and beautification Al Ryan Alejandre said the City Government’s counterpart effort is to promote the city while the negotiations for the direct flights are still ongoing.

“We will bring tour operators and some of the media to help us promote Davao City. We’ll also have business to business transactions with the different tourism sectors of the other cities,” Alejandre said.

He mentioned that the places they plan to include in the roadshow are Subic, Tagbilaran, Tacloban, and Dumaguete.

On October 16 to 22, Alejandre said a tourism and investment roadshow will be happening in Japan to be attended by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte together with other city officials and representatives from the private sector.

In a separate interview with Davao City Investment and Promotions Center officer-in-charge Lemuel Ortonio, he said together with the City Tourism Operations Office, they are going to talk with investors in Osaka, Kyoto, Yokohama, and Tokyo. Industries that will be promoted during the said roadshow are agriculture, tourism, real property, and manufacturing.

Ortonio also said selection of the key cities of Japan to be included in the itineraries was based on the strong points of each city in relation to the investment areas that they are going to promote.

“We will not waste this opportunity that our president is from Davao. So there are a lot of doors open and options that we can do. It’s easier for us to negotiate now,” Alejandre added.

Currently, the City Government is tapping representatives of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. particularly those in the tourism sector.
