Kapitan Tomas wins poster making anew

THE Department of Agriculture (DA)-Davao Region in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations recently conducted the Regional On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest in celebration of the 2017 World Food Day.

The participating students from various elementary schools in the region focused on the theme “Change the Future of Migration. Invest in Food Security and Rural Development.”

Davi Gabriel Aurelio, a fourth grader of Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School (KTMSCES) won the 2017 WFD poster making contest. 2nd placer Harry Owen Importante of Tulalian Elementary School and 3rd placer Arron Jay Belicario of Matina Pangi Elementary School. They all received a cash prize and medal.

It is a back-to-back championship for KTMSCES as last year, Belle Angeline Aurelio won the regional and represented the national On-the-Spot Mosaic Making Contest. This year, Davi Aurelio will represent Davao Region in the national tilt which will be held on October 6 at DA-Central Office in Quezon City.

“This activity paves way for young artist to showcase their talent and advocate for agricultural development. We also aim students to engage in agriculture especially now that the number of individuals engaged in agriculture is declining,” DA-Davao Information Chief Noel Provido said.

Every year, DA-Regional offices play a major role for the conduct of the contest wherein they have also coordinated with the different elementary schools. (PR)
