Cops nab 96, P2M worth of drugs

ANTI-DRUG operatives from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) confiscated almost P2 million worth of illegal drugs in their weekly Oplan Pokemon.

All of the drug enforcement units of the 11 police stations, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), the City Intelligence Branch (CIB), Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) and other units conducted operations, which led to the arrest of 96 persons.

Forty-six suspected drug personalities were caught for various drug charges.

At 1:40 p.m. yesterday, operatives led by Supt. Cristopher Navida caught two suspected drug pushers identified as Ricardo Ostolano, 28, and Rose Abanto, 24, in Barangay Ermita with P481, 912 worth of illegal drugs in their possession.

The 46 personalities yielded a total of P 1,997,032 worth of illegal drugs in the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value.

Forty-eight persons were also arrested for illegal gambling, five persons were arrested during the service of warrants while one was caught for possessing a loose firearm.

The arrested suspected drug personalities will be facing charges for the violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, operatives also arrested three persons and uprooted millions worth of marijuana plants in separate operations in Central Visayas in the past two days.

In Sitio Malagaring, Barangay Basak, Badian, operatives uprooted 5,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P2 million past 5 a.m. yesterday.

No cultivators were caught by the personnel from Cebu Provincial Police Office, navy and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7.

At 1 p.m. last Tuesday, Noel Maganda Binoya, 22, was arrested in a drug bust in Barangay Cansaga, Consolacion, yielding five small packs of “shabu” worth P1,700. (JOB, KAL)
