WINSTER Dejan and Marivic Mari ruled the 50-km. race of the 2Bibu Bantayan Island Ultramarathon, winning the men’s and women’s title at the Sta. Fe Beach Club in Bantayan Island last Sunday.
Dejan finished the 50K race in 5 hours, 8 minutes and 22 seconds to bag the men’s title, beating Keven Arcenas by about two minutes.
Arcenas settled for second place, Alex Dalusung came in 5:21:33 for third place, while Dominic Panimdim and Melandro Cuyos timed 5:32:11 and 5:38:50 to finish fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Mari, meanwhile, dominated the women’s division as she finished the race in 5:42:49, more than two minutes ahead from the closest pursuer.
Daisy Batac came second in 6:08:48, Marly Busa took third place in 6:27:22, Marjorie Jori finished fourth with 6:45:51 and Fe Hoffner Von Styggenein was fifth at 7:04:00.
The race organized by Cebu Ultrarunners Club (CUC) also featured the 22K race, which was won by Leo Abello and Jona dela Torre.
Abello reigned in the men’s division in 1:48:10, he was followed by Bernard Tipan in 1:54:55, Pako Bretana in 2:02:11, John Marollano in 2:17:22 and John Oporto in 2:20:22.
Dela Torre bagged the women’s title after clocking 2:06:02. Felrose Mejorada (2:19:33) finished second, Ann Buac (2:29:25) placed third, Marife Casey (2:34:00) was at fourth place, while Nello Nunez (2:34:17) rounded up the Top 5. (RSC)
