Hongitan leads Baguio Day archery tilt winners

FRESH from her stint in the Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia, Kareel Hongitan immediately plunged into action and bagged a gold medal in the Baguio City Invitational Archery Tournament during the weekend at the Baguio Athletic Bowl archery range.

Hongitan, representing University of Baguio (UB) this time around, fired 589 points to bag the gold medal in the women's senior category edging University of the Cordilleras' Xena Chomapoy and Cynah Hidalgo of UB who both settled for silver and bronze respectively.

UB also scored a 1-2 finish in the men's senior's division with Jayson Mendoza and Janus Ventura securing the gold and silver while Jules Ecuan of UC salvaged silver in the event organized by the Baguio City Archery Club in cooperation with the World Archery Philippines.

Para archer Giovanni Ola had 582 to win the gold medal in the division as Allan Campos and Agustina Bantilloc settled for silver and bronze.

The men’s junior division saw Allen Drei Raquipo of UB firing 601 point for the gold medal edging Baguio City High School’s Cleanard Hidalgo and Saint Louis University’s Wilsonn Wong bagging the silver and bronze while the distaff side saw Loren Chloe Balaoing also from UB winning the gold as Charmaine Angela Villamor of Pines City National High School and Shanaya Rose Dangla of UB settling for silver and bronze.

In the cadet boys category, Joshua Fernandez edged fellow City Higher Cyrus Ebenezer Obenita for the gold with the latter settling for silver while the in the girls contest, it was a sweep for the City High archers with Andrea Alvaro, Mafoi Ena Paculan, and Aiesha Daquioag winning the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.

It was another 1-2 finish for City High with Trent Travis Ngay-os and Samuel Joseph Laging bagging the gold and silver while Earl Daniele Calera of UB took home the bronze medal.

The cub girls division saw City High bagging the top three with Keturah Collene Gonzales winning the gold, Adrienne Ysabel Parayno bagging the silver and Resha Dawn Ronquillo salvaging the bronze medal.

In bowman boys, Jethro Fernandez of Baguio Pines FLC took home the silver while the girls division saw Jerla Aurienne Katrina Gaona, also from Baguio Pines FLC winning the gold with Pheby Latawan of San Vicente Elem. School settling for the silver.

Mariano Basawil, meanwhile, won the gold medal in the tyro bowman category with Kri Ramos settling for silver while Angel Bomogao topped the distaff side as Maria Mendoza plucked the silver.

In the advance yeoman for boys, Seph Latawan of San Vicente Elementary School took home the gold medal while Jevyn Hanz Salcedo topped the tyro yeoman for boys.

In the open barebow category, Padora’s Box archers made their presence felt as Kendall Lappao, Beverly Picart Tanseco, and Ricardo Tanseco took the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively while Carl Ramirez (Pandora) bagged the gold medal in the compound category edging Jonathan de los Reyes of UB who settled for silver and Joel Aragona salvaging the bronze medal.
