Philbex gathers 100 exhibitors

CLOSE to 100 exhibitors in construction and design have converged in one roof to bring to Cebuanos the latest of their products, services and technology.

The 14th installment of the Philippine Building and Construction Expo (Philbex) Cebu has a series of pocket events like young designers’ competition and convention talks by national and international speakers.

Philbex Cebu 2017 will run from Sept. 14 to 17 at the SM City Trade Hall organized by the Worldbex Services International (WSI).

WSI founder Joseph Ang said the exposition is a timely activity as the country embarks on the “golden age of infrastructure” under the Duterte administration.

He cited construction and design industries as the two drivers that would propel economic growth in the country.

“Our hosting of Philbex in Cebu is a testament of our steadfast commitment to deliver a better show here,” Ang said, adding that he is confident Cebu’s construction and design will grow into world-class industries that are built on the talent and attitude of its people.

“We will continue to pursue to inspire innovation,” said Ang.

Gov. Hilario Davide III welcomed WSI’s continued support for Cebu, saying that aside from the showcase, the gathering of industry stakeholders is an avenue to discuss ideas and ways to better support local and national growth.

“With the projected upward trajectory of the economy, construction is seen to continuously play a vital role,” said Davide, in his speech delivered by Provincial Board Member Miguel Antonio Magpale.

Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale also lauded WSI’s optimism in Cebu’s economy in the midst of globalization and era of new technologies.

“This is a good opportunity for the construction industry to showcase the latest of its products, services and technology here in Cebu,” she said.

Last year, Philbex Cebu drew 25,000 visitors. Highlights include the first Visayas-Mindanao conference for Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, the culmination of the Projeto: Furniture Design Competition; and the premier architects and interior designers’ gallery.
