Former drug users attend village community service

ANGELES CITY -- A group of former illegal drug users are joining a community service in Barangay Balibago to get away from their vices.

Balibago village chief Rodelio “Tony” Mamac said that surrenderers volunteered to help in the Gulayan Sa Barangay program of the village.

Various crops and vegetables are grown under the project, according to the village chief.

“Our effort is paying off with these guys. They were former users of illegal drugs and now they realized the bad effects in their lives,” Mamac said.

“They are voluntary doing community service in our Gulayan sa Barangay by cultivating the soil for the vegetables,” he added.

The barangay chairman urged other drug users to follow suit and join the local officials in changing the community into a drug-free and peaceful place.

“There is always a room for second chance in Barangay Balibago. I am urging other users of illegal drugs to join us and make our society a peaceful and happy place to live in,” Mamac said.
