95 working drug reformists get pay

MASANTOL – The Provincial Government of Pampanga recently distributed the salaries of drug surrenderers who were under the Tulong para sa Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program.

Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda led the distribution of salaries to some 95 workers from the four towns of Pampanga during a simple pay-out ceremony at Heroes Hall in the City of San Fernando.

According to Chief Inspector Julius Javier, this town’s chief of police, the participants were drug surrenderees who underwent reformation through the Bahay Pagbabago programs of their respective local government units.

Of the total 95 Tupad workers, Javier disclosed 28 of them were from Masantol, 21 from Macabebe, 18 from Minalin and 28 from San Luis towns.

“After ng reformation nila, hindi naman immediately makakahanap sila ng trabaho so ‘yung mga gusto magkaroon ng income, in-enroll namin sila sa TUPAD program as part of livelihood program namin for drug reformists,” he said.

Javier added that the workers received P3,640 salary for ten days of cleaning the community. Their job included grass cutting, cleaning of canals and street sweeping, among others.

He stressed that the local government of Masantol and Provincial Government of Pampanga continue to employ disadvantaged workers, especially drug surrenderers, under the TUPAD program.

Meanwhile, Javier also expressed his gratitude to Vice-Governor Pineda for extending his resources to aid drug surrenderers who continue to redeem themselves.

He stressed that the employment given to them will be significant on their way to reintegrate themselves to the community.
