Caraga grad tops forester board exams

BUTUAN CITY -- A student from the Caraga State University (CSU) took the top spot of the recently concluded September 2017 Forester board exam for the second year in a row.

Victor Lobrigas Corbita from Barobo town in Surigao del Sur nailed the top spot with 91.20 percent.

Six other CSU students also made it to the top 10 namely: Ailyn Mesias Dela Peña who took the third rank with 90.85 percent, on the fourth is Edu Daamo Casugudan Jr with 90.40 percent, Helen Dahan Cuizon with 90.20 percent on the fifth spot, Liezel Asumbrado Cortejos and Marcelyn Dalaygon Lavilla tied the seventh place at 89.80 percent, and John Michael Sumalo Moreno at the ninth spot with 89.50 percent.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the forester board exam were conducted the on September 12 and 13 in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

The results, posted on the PRC website on Friday, September 15, indicated that 721 out of 1,482 (48.65 percent) passed the September 2017 Forester board exam.

The University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) took the top performing school with 136 passers out of the 137 who took the exam at a 99.27 percent passing percentage, leading their passers was Jaena Naejan Evangelista Tiongco who ranked second with 90.90 percent.

Dr Sonia Rosales-Low, public relation alumni and external affairs officer of CSU stated that those who passed recent forester examinations were mixed of re-takers and fresh graduates.

“I have yet to verify as to the exact number of students who took the exams and to those who made it from Bachelor of Science in Forestry which is under the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources as several of those who took the exams were not fresh graduates, others are re-takers. But I’m sure this well be a big celebration for the school and due recognition for the passers and topnotchers as this is the second year in the row that we have the number one spot and these time around we have seven of our alumnus on the top-10 spots,” said Low.

In the September 2016 exams, CSU graduate Cornelio Sacquiap Casilap Jr was the top notcher with 91.40 percent.
