AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao seized over P100,000 worth of illegal drugs from two couples in separate drug operations in Cagayan de Oro City, on Friday, September 15.
PDEA-Northern Mindanao agent Ben Calibre said the two couples have been categorized as target-listed drug personalities in the city.
The anti-narcotics operatives arrested the couple Enrico and Gina Glico, residents of Carinugan, Balulang, in a drug bust at 8:30 a.m last Friday.
Seized from the couple's possession are three sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," in different sizes, weighing about 15 grams and worth around P90,000.
PDEA-Northern Mindanao agents believed that more items were stocked inside the house.
"Nagtuo mi nga naa pay shabu nga natago sulod sa balay tungod kay wala naman namo gihalughog ang balay kay buy bust man to nga operation," Calibre said.
Calibre said the couple were known to have been selling shabu to taxi and Jeepney drivers and other drug dependents in the village.
Calibre added Enrico had a previous drug cases seven years ago but was dismissed.
He said the PDEA informants tipped that the couple have been conspiring in running the illegal drug trade.
"Wala pa nako mahibal-i ngano na dismissed to pero nadakpan nana siya tungod gihapon sa droga mga 2009 or 2010," Calibre said.
"Sayang kay naa unta chance nga magbag-o kay na-dismissed nagpadayon man hinoon sa pagbaligya," Calibre added.
Calibre said the couple revealed a "big fish" who supplies them with the items during the initial investigation.
The big time drug source, whom Calibre refused to identify, cropped up in the PDEA list and pointed by those drug suspects previously arrested.
"Cooperative man ang couple kay right away gihatag nila ang pangalan sa ilang source ug amo karon nga gimonitor," Calibre said.
Meanwhile, another couple was arrested by the PDEA agents at Pinikitan, Camaman-an, at 5:30 p.m.
Calibre said the couple Asnia, 23, and Abdulmanan Tanandato, 56, also belong to the target-list of PDEA.
Seized from their possession were five grams of suspected shabu worth around P30,000.
Calibre said the two were known to be distributing shabu to drug users and pushers.
"Mao na ilang sistema mag-distribute og droga sa mga users ug pushers," Calibre said.
PDEA is set to press drug charges against the suspects on Monday, September 18.
