Barili posts '29-percent' growth

THE southern municipality of Barili's economy grew 29 percent in the past year.

“At the time when the national growth rate is pegged at nine percent, here we are, in Barili, achieving a double digit economic growth that is over three times bigger than the national average, one of the highest in the region,” said Mayor Marlon Garcia during his State of the Municipality Address last Sept. 15.

He said that they doubled their collection from the first eight months of 2017 compared to the entire year of 2015.

Garcia said that from an income of P1.8 million in 2015, Barili's revenues grew to P3.2 million in 2016.

“The year has not even ended yet, but the amount is already being exceeded by our collections from January to August of 2017,” Garcia said.

He said that revenues from their water services collection have also increased because of strengthened enforcement of bill collection.

“For the first time in the history of Barili, we have implemented the cutting of connections to delinquent consumers,” he said.

He said he has constantly encouraged all employees to always give their best.

Last July, Barili was awarded the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
