A NEW generation of Ngilngig short films are set to be premiered in Davao City during this year’s Davao Ngilngig Film (DNF) Festival on October 28.
On June, 19 applicants from various regions were selected to participate in the 2017 Davao Ngilngig Film Camp held at Malagos Garden Resort, Davao City.
The camp was a rigorous three-day workshop and mentoring with acclaimed filmmakers Charliebebs Gohetia, McRobert Nacario, and Festival director Bagane Fiola. Also with them were film critic Jay Rosas and artists Angely Chi and Dave Ibao.
After almost four months of production, the crews formed in the camp will be unveiling the following films under the Bonfire Stories section in the 2017 DNF Festival:
Ang pag-abot by Lumpia Productions
Emmylou Layog, Jirah Palma, Marga Mangao, Kenneth Senarillos, Pio Sto. Domingo.
A girl takes a stroll through the woods when she is pursued by an unidentified entity. Later, she discovers that the entity is a visitor she has been expecting all along.
Balbal by Mayora Films
Karlo Camia, FGG Marianne Franco, Melchor Cabangbang, Joseph Daniel Malabar Balong.
A teenage boy who was ordered by his sisters to look out for their dead brother. Muted memories, issues, and long-held grudges were unveiled.
Panabi by Limbo Productions
Princess Taroza, Mcdonald Garcia, Maki Cabrera, Nicole Molina, Vince Bandiola, Roel Rosaroso.
A couple tries to salvage what is left of their relationship by going on a walk through the forest.

Other programs under the 2017 Davao Ngilngig Film Festival include (Don’t) Look Back, an exhibit of Ngilngig films of the past and Sa Dako Pa Roon, a line-up of entries from other regions.
The Davao Ngilngig Films festival, organized by Pasalidahay, which is presented by Malagos Garden Resort, and supported by Alpha Phi Omega, Cinema One Originals, Creative Ideas Prints and Ads Corporation, Davao Bloggers Society, JCI Kadayawan, Morning Light Art Gallery & Shop, Mindanao Times, and Mindanao Travel Channel as Minor Sponsors, will run from October 27 to 31, 2017.
