MALACAÑANG condemned Friday the killing of an assistant cameraman of CNN Philippines in Imus, Cavite Thursday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that authorities are now looking for the perpetrators who shot dead Jonathan Oldan, 29.

"We condemn the killing of CNN Philippines’ employee Jonathan Oldan. The Philippine National Police has been directed to pursue those who may have been responsible for his death so that the ends of justice may be served," he said in a statement.

Unidentified suspects shot Oldan while buying a cigarette in a store at 5:15 a.m. Thursday along Bukaneg Street in Barangay Pinagbuklod.

The suspect was on his way to work before he was killed.

If proven killed in the line of duty, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines said Oldan would be the third media person to be slain this year, 27th under the President Benigno Aquino III and 167th since the restoration of democracy in 1986. (SDR/Sunnex)
