Man found dead at Bredco port

A MAN who accidentally fell into the sea near the Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corp. (Bredco) port in Bacolod City was found dead on Tuesday morning, September 19.

Lieutenant Senior Grade Jimmy Oliver Vingno, head of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station-Bacolod, identified the fatality as Eddie Bason, 63, of Purok Zone 1, Barangay Mandalagan.

Vingno said Bason and his friend Armando Bajande went fishing and were also having a drinking session on Sunday night when the victim fell into the sea.

“It could be that Bason was drunk or was asleep when he fell,” he added.

Bajande sought assistance from the security guard and the Coast Guard immediately conducted a search and rescue operation.

Due to bad weather, the Coast Guard suspended the operation.

The rescue operation continued on Monday and Tuesday until Bason’s body was retrieved around 7:30 a.m. about 300 meters away from the shoreline.

He was positively identified by his family.
