Newly promoted officers challenged by Zamboanga top cop

A TOP police official has challenged the newly-promoted officers and personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula to perform the tasks with utmost dedication to accomplish their mission.

Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula deputy director for administration, made the challenged as he administered the oath of 251 personnel, including 56 officers, in a donning of ranks ceremony on Wednesday, September 20, at Camp Romeo Abendan.

Camp Abendan houses the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula headquarters in the village of Mercedes, Zamboanga city.

“Promotion is an advancement of an employee from one position to another with an increase in duties and responsibilities as authorized by law, and usually accompanied by an increase in salary,” De Ocampo said.

He added, “Apparently, the government is fair enough in providing reasonable compensation, I encourage you in making this as a motivating factor for you to continue the work in accomplishing the PNP’s (Philippine National Police) mission and take responsibility in giving the community a quality service they deserve.”

He said a simultaneous mass oath-taking and donning of rank ceremony was also held on Wednesday in the police provincial offices of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga City Police Office and Isabela City Police Station.

This summed up to a 678 newly promoted policemen in PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula comprising of 52 police commissioned Officers and 626 police non-commissioned officers.

Of the total, 199 of them, including four officers, belong to the Philippine National Police Support Units assigned with the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula.

The promotion of PNP unformed personnel of PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula and National Support Units completes the 2nd Level Police Commissioned Officers and Police Non-Commissioned Officers Regular Promotion Program for the calendar year 2017. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
