Veco eyes expansion of prepaid power program

THE Visayan Electric Company (Veco) is working on an online power prepaid program where customers can consume electricity depending on the load they purchased.

But Veco chief operating officer Anton Perdices said they will also have an offline prepaid program where customers can buy a token from stores and be given a three-digit number that will top up their supply.

“We have that right now, which we started in Naga City, and we want to extend it somewhere near the city. Customers can buy the token in Veco service centers like SM City Cebu, J Centre Mall, One Pavillion and Veco-Tabunok office,” Perdices said.

“We are asking the power customers how many are interested. We are counting that and we will collate all the numbers within this year,” he added.

Perdices said it is possible that they will provide another meter with an offline prepaid program for those who want it.

The program, he said, can benefit owners of apartments and condominium units since they usually face problems with renters who often leave their units without paying the power bills. (EOB)
