P447-M projects in Cordillera endorsed for fund support

MEMBERS of the Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) unanimously approved and endorsed 11 infrastructure and enterprise subprojects worth P447.7 million for Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) fund support.

In a meeting held recently, Engineer Danilo Daguio, deputy project director of Regional Project Coordination Office-Cordillera said these projects may likely be approved for PRDP implementation as per the project’s prioritization scheme.

Among the approved infrastructure subprojects were the construction of Agaki Potable Water System in Mankayan, Benguet worth P32.6 million; the improvement of Bado-Dangwa-Guilayon farm-to-market road in Tabuk City, Kalinga worth P222.9 million; four Communal Irrigation System subprojects in Banaue, Ifugao with a total project cost amounting to P26.8 million; and the Improvement of Viewpoint–San Fernando, also in Banaue worth P107.9 million.

Four enterprise subprojects were also approved with an aggregate cost amounting to P57.5 million distributed to Ifugao Coffee Processing and Marketing Enterprise with Hojap Multi-Purpose Cooperative as the proponent group (PG) worth P18.2 million; Potato Tuber Production and Marketing Enterprise with Sadsadan Association of Vegetable Producers, Inc. in Bauko, Mt. Province as the PG (P9.5 million); Carabao Mango Production and Marketing with Abra Vegetable Seed Growers Development Cooperative as the PG (P16.1 million); and Apayao Banana Consolidation and Marketing with Flora MPC as the PG worth P13.7 million.

Prior to the approval of the projects, members of the board placed emphasis on the sustainability of the subproject and a written consent from the beneficiaries for the implementation.

Daguio encouraged the local government units (LGUs) to submit proposals for PRDP funding especially to the LGUs without prior involvement in PRDP.

The RPAB is composed of regional directors from the different government agencies which provides guidance, reviews and approves subprojects for funding under the PRDP. (PR)
