A VILLAGE official linked to illegal drug trade was caught in a raid for allegedly keeping unlicensed firearms and illegal drugs in Barangay Poblacion 5, Tuburan around 7:05 a.m. yesterday.
Poblacion 5 Barangay Councilor Maurice Calida Perales was caught by the joint team of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7-Cebu North Province and Tuburan Police Station operatives.
Supt. Marlu Conag, the town police chief, said they received reports that Perales is an alleged drug user who later engaged in selling illegal drugs. The suspect denied to the police the allegations.
Perales yielded a .38 revolver without a serial number, four bullets, a medium pack of “shabu,” and three small packs of “shabu.”
He will be charged for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
At 6:40 a.m., Perales’s fellow Poblacion 5 Barangay Councilor Emilio Maxilom Castro Jr. surrendered his unlicensed .22 revolver with bullets to Conag. (KAL)
