THE "All Together: Advocating for Children's Welfare and Development Through Football"-themed 11th SOS Football Festival, presented by SOS Children's Village Davao in partnership with Maharlika Sports Institute Inc. (MSII), will kick off on October 21 at the Crocodile Park Grounds in River Front Corporate City, Diversion Road in Ma-a, Davao City.
SOS Children's Village Davao fund development coordinator Roxanne Paguyan said the two-day annual fundraiser will benefit the orphan children of SOS Children's Village Davao.
"SOS Children's Village Davao is a children development organization that has two programs which are the Family-Based Care and Family Strengthening Program. The proceeds of this event will go to the FSP, a program that helps a poor family start again by training the parents with livelihood program while the children will be sent to school," Paguyan said.
The program, however, will last up to five years until the chosen family endorsed by their partnering barangays could start living on their own.
She also said that the bootfest, to be officiated by the techinal team of MSII is part of their year-long fund-raising activities to keep the sustainabilty of their programs.
Crocodile Park management, according to Paguyan, sponsored the venue.
Some 80 teams will see action in seven categories including boys 10 (born 2007), boys 12 (born 2005), girls elementary (born 2005), mixed 8 years old and under, boys 14 (born 2003), boys 17 (born 2000), High School girls (born 2000).
The tournament is open to interested teams regardless of school-based or club-based teams. Teams must present their Philippine Statistics Authority birth certificate and other required documents for proof of eligibility.
Registration fees are P800 (mixed eight years old and under, boys 10, boys 12 and girls elementary) and P1,000 (boys 14, boys 17 and High School girls).
