Businessman nabbed in Badian drug bust

A 58-YEAR-OLD businessman running a line of fishing vessels was caught in a drug bust past 11 a.m. Friday, September 22, in Barangay Lambug, Badian, Cebu.

Senior Inspector Nazarino Emia, the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) deputy chief, identified the suspect as Antonio Pimentera, who had been listed as high value target by the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

He said the suspect sourced his supply from the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Pimentera allegedly has links with Malabago, Badian Village Captain Epifania Divinagracia Alvizo, who was caught by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency last July 5.

During the bust, the suspect yielded two big packs of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu."

Past 12 p.m., the PIB operatives with the personnel of CPPO-Special Weapons and Tactics, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Badian Police Station served the search warrant in the suspect's house in Barangay Dagatan.

Upon initial investigation, two more big packs of shabu, a KG9 submachine gun, bullets and magazine were found in the suspect's residence.

Pimentera denied allegations that he is into illegal drug trade.

He will be facing complaints for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL)
