Mabalacat mayor to allot P1-M social, cultural funds per village

MABALACAT CITY -- Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has vowed to provide P1-million cultural funds for each of the city's 27 barangays.

The cultural funds will be used for the activities of barangays related to Filipino traditions and customs, Garbo said during the Local Development Council meeting at the Dau Barangay Hall last Wednesday, September 20.

The mayor at the same time discouraged the barangay chairmen regarding their practice of soliciting from city officials funds for their yearly “Pabasa” during the observance of Holy Week and sports activities.

On sports competition like basketball leagues, Garbo said that barangay officials may utilize their funds for sports development.

“Let us stop our old practice of soliciting funds for Holy Week, basketball leagues and other activities,” Garbo told the village chiefs.

For medical assistance, the mayor told the village leaders that their constituents may go directly to the city hall to submit their requests.

Garbo said the City Government has allotted P50 million for medical assistance, P50 million for burial assistance and P50 million for its central pharmacy.
