Police outreach benefits 200 IPs

A TOTAL of 200 Indigenous People (IP) of Matigsalug tribe benefited from the Outreach Program initiated by the Police Regional Office (PRO 11) yesterday in Datu Salumay, Marilog District, Davao City.

Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of PRO Davao Region, said the PRO’s Command Group, Regional Health Service, Logistics R4, Police Community Relations and Public Information Office took part in the activity.

The activity aims to bring the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel closer to the Lumad community in far-flung areas and to encourage the community to support and be an active part in their crime prevention and control efforts.

“This is one way of giving back and sharing the blessings of PRO 11 to our IP brothers and sisters. To win their hearts and mind that the police are their protectors and ready to serve them at all times,” Driz said.

They provided the IPs with free medical checkup, operation tuli, free haircut, nail cut and polish, pneumonia vaccination, medicines, food packs, feeding, free school supplies and dental extraction.

The activity was also in partnership with the Rotary East of Davao and Cosmos Masonic Lodge.

The cops likewise entertained the IPs through the PNP mascot and PNP Magicians. (Sheila Mae N. Vallente, Geene Aubrey S. Avelino, NDDU Interns)
