A FORMER communist rebel was among four suspects arrested in separate drug busts in Consolacion town in northern Cebu on Saturday, September 23.
Luciano Gaco Poro, allegedly a former member of the communist New People's Army, was apprehended by police in a drug bust in Sitio Pandayan, Barangay Poblacion Occidental at 11 p.m. Saturday.
Superintendent Mina Domingo, the town police chief, said Poro used to be known as Ka Jurey and was the vice platoon leader of rebels operating in Sogod, northern Cebu.
He has been listed as a street level target. During Saturday's drug bust, Poro allegedly yielded 12.50 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P147,500, a Dangerous Drugs Board value.
Operatives also seized a marked P500 bill used in the drug bust and cash amounting to P1,000, believed to be proceeds from illegal drug trade.
Four hours earlier, Peter Ann Pitogo, 43; Jilly Quino Pitogo, 44; and Vito Ragudo Fajardo, 40, were caught in Barangay Tayud, yielding 0.24 gram of "shabu" worth P2,832.
The suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which sets no bail for illegal drug traders. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
