SOLDIERS assigned with the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) have donated blood for the front line battle casualties in Marawi City, military officials said on Sunday, September 24.
Captain Jo-ann Petinglay, Wesmincom information officer, said the bloodletting activity was held on Saturday at the gymnasium of Camp Navarro that houses Wesmincom’s headquarters in Zamboanga City.
Petinglay said the activity organized by the Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Civil-Military Operations headed by Lieutenant Colonel Joel Mamon for the benefit of the wounded soldiers.
Petinglay said the activity was also held in line with the commemoration of the 11th founding anniversary of Wesmincom and in conjunction with the National Peace Consciousness Month observed every September under Proclamation No. 675.
She said among those who donated blood were soldiers of the Task Force Zamboanga, 54th Engineering Brigade, 3rd Tactical Operations Command and Naval Forces Western Mindanao.
She said the activity was facilitated by personnel of the government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center.
Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., Wesmincom chief, expressed his gratitude to the blood donors.
“This good deed bridges the lives of our wounded comrades who braved the battleground. Our gratitude goes to those who have donated blood for the sake of our battle casualties,” Galvez said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
